The official premier of film “Hobnails and Hemp Rope” took place in Ottawa
On May 29 the central Ottawa filmtheatre “ByTowne Cinema” held the official premier of the film “Hobnails and Hemp Rope” by Austrian producer Greg Gransden with the assistance of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canada and the Representation of Federal Agency “Rossotrudnichestvo”.
This documentary movie has been dedicated to the 100-th Anniversary of joint alpine ascent to the Bugaboo Spire on the border of Alberta and British Columbia. The participants of the field work armed theirselves with kits of 1916 and reconstructed the path of the expedition of those days, not using any of the modern equipment, including cellphones, radios, GPS-navigators and even electric flashlights and bug spray.
The film has won the award of the XX International Festival of Mountain and Adventure Films “Vertical-2017”, which took place in Moscow on May 18-19. On the occasion the Russian Embassy held the official reception for all the members of the movie team, Russian coordinators and operators, Austrian diplomats and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Welcome speech and greeting have been performed by Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation Vladimir Proskuryakov and the Representative of the Federal Agency “Rossotrudnichestvo” Anton Solovyov.
